If you login on the website and then connect to the FTP server, it only displays the users statistics (on 00index.html) if a guest account is created.
When the guest account is disabled and you connect to the FTP server again, the user statistics box disappears from 00index.html and instead displays the login/password form; even though the Synchronet Control Panel confirms that the user account is indeed logged in to FTP.
Is there a work around for ftp-html.js to display the user stats when there is no guest account?

It was unintentional behavior (a bug). Both ftp-html.js and ftp-web-html.js have now been updated in CVS to address this. Please update these files and try again.
